MERONEY and MISS TAYLOR. It was attended by the Trustees and a number of Ladies and Gentlemen of the Town and its vicinity, who with apparent satisfaction expressed their applause and approbation of the progress the several Classes had made in the various branches of Education, in which they have been engaged. It was observed by the Trustees that the several Classes had made such progress, generally, that it was difficult to make a decisive preference to any without doing injustice to others. After expressing their approbation of the performance the scholars, in general, they cannot omit remarking that the first Class of Ladies in spelling, MISSES HODGES, F. STREET, R. STREET, --- HAY, M. WINGATE, KINCADE and S. MUMFORD, particularly distinguished themselves. In readings, MISSES HAY, F. STREET, KINCADE and HAY. In writing, MISSES F. STREET, HAY, and KINCADE. In Composition an equal share of merit was attached to all the Ladies of the First Class. Second Class in spelling, MISSES McREA, BRICE, RILEY, HAWLEY, A. BECK and MOORE; in reading R. STREET, JOCELYN and VANCE. In English Grammar, Misses McRACKAN, VANCE, and McREA. In writing, MISSES R. STREET, ECCLES, POTTS, McRACKAN and JOCELYN. Third class, in spellings MISSES MOTT, A. WINGATE, C. MALLET, E. BECK and STAIRET. In reading, MISSES McREA, BRICE, RILEY and MOORE; Fourth Class -- In Spelling, MISSES S. WINGATE and ALSOBROOK. First Class -- Young Men -- in Spelling: MASTERS I. EDWARDS, G. SIBLEY; H. SIBLEY; and FERRELL. In reading -- G. SIBLEY, H. SIBLEY and I. EDWARDS; In English Grammar -- MASTERS G. SIBLEY, H. SIBLEY and I. EDWARDS; In Writing -- MASTERS G. SIBLEY, PEACOCK, H. SIBLEY and DICK; In speaking -- G. SIBLEY, H. SIBLEY, I. EDWARDS, and W. OVERTON. Second Class -- Spelling: MASTERS I. WRIGHT; A. WARSON, I. LEE and J. BRANTON; In Reading -- W. OVERTON and W. WILKINGS; English Grammar -- W. OVERTON, W. PEACOCK and I HADLY; Writing --J. ROWAN, A. WATSON and W. MOORE, Speaking -- T. MOLTON. After a vaction of three weeks, the Academy will again be opened for the reception of those who may apply for admittance.
