Know all men by these presents, that We John Hughes are held and bound into 
Philip Pipkin in the sum of one hundred dollars to the which payment well and 
truly to be made and done, we bind ourselves our heirs, executors and 
administrators, jointly and severally firmly by these presents. - Sealed with 
our seals, and dated this 13th day of June A.D. 1866.

THE CONDITION of the above obligation is such, that whereas the said John 
Hughes hath appealed from the Judgment of the Superior Court for the County of 
Craven, given against him in the matter of the application for the renewal of 
Philip Pipkin as Administrator of Raymond Castrix dec'd and the appointment of 
said John Hughes in his stead unto the Supreme Court of the State of North-
Carolina; now if the said John Hughes shall prosecute said appeal with effect, 
or in case and he cast therein, shall perform the judgment, sentence and 
decree which the Supreme Court shall pass or make therein, then the above 
obligation to be void, otherwise of full force and virtue.
