John STANLY his heirs and assigns forever. And We for ourselves and our heirs do covenant to and with the said John STANLY his heirs and assigns, that we will warrant and defend the bargained premises to the said John STANLY his heirs and assigns against the claims of all manner of persons. In Witness whereof We have hereunto set our hands and seals this 10th Day of September One thousand eight hundred and fourteen Sealed & Delivered in presence of: David FREELAND? Signed: John L. TALKE Sarah TALKA State of North Carolina Craven County Court of Pleas and Quarter Sessions September Term A.D 1814 There was the execution of the foregoing deed proved in open court and in due form of law by the oath of David FOUNTAIN? Subscribing witness thereto at same time Frederick J. COX, Esquire one of the magistrates comprising the Court was ordered to make the private examination of Sarah TALKE one of the grantors as to the execution of said conveyance (the said Sarah being present in Court) whereupon said Frederick J. COX retired from the bench, and in a few moments, returned & reported to the Court, that he had examined the said Sarah privity and apart from John TALKE her husband, as to her free consent in executing said deed, when she did and she had executed the same freely, voluntarily & her own accord, without the fear, control or compulsion of her said husband it is therefore Ordered that said deed be Registered. Attest: J. M? FRANKS, C.C. Recorded in the Registers Office of Craven County in Book 3rd. C. page 101. One hundred and one. Attest: John GREEN, Register. Know all men be these Presents that I, John STANLY in consideration of the sum of Five Hundred dollars to me paid by John TALKE of Newbern, the receipt whereof I do hereby acknowledge, have bargained and sold and by these presents do bargain and sell ot the said John TALKE his heirs and assigns, a lot in Newbern situate on the Northside of Broad Street known in the plan of Newbern by Number Two Hundred Sixty Five (no. 265) and also one piece of ground situate in the said town bounded as follows, at the Northeast intersection of Broad and Muddy Streets, beginning at the Corner of said streets, running Eastwardly along Middle Street forty three feet six inches, then northwardly paralled with Muddy Street to lot number two hundred & ninety five (no. 295) then with the line of that lot to Muddy Street, and with the street to the beginning, being part of the lot known in the plan of Newbern by the number town hundred sixty seven (no. 267) which said lot and part of a lot were conveyed to me by deed from the said John TALKE and Sarah his wife-To have and to hold the said lot and part of a lot to the said John TALKE his heirs and assigns forever. And I the said John STANLY consent? With the said John TALKE his heirs and assigns to warrant and defend the premises hereby bargained against the claims of all persons, claiming under or through one, but against no other claims whatever. In Witness, whereof I have hereunto set my hand and seal the eleventh day of September One Thousand eight hundred & fourteen. Sealed and delivered before J. G? FRANKS Signed: Jn.
