CASWELL COUNTY, NC - WILLS - John Davis, 22 May 1839

In the name of God I, John Davis of Caswell County, North Carolina, being of
sound mind and perfect memory blessed be God do this 22nd day of May in the
year of our Lord one thousand eight hundred and thirty nine make publish this
my last will and testament in manner following that I say.

First, I give and bequeath to my three daughters living with me, Nancy, Sarah,
and Elizabeth, my dwelling house and other necessary houses and ten acres of
land where they think proper to take while living single and also my stock of
all kinds. 

I also give to my grandson, John Davis, son of Enoch Davis, 110 acres of land
lying in the south part of my tract.

I also give to my daughter, Lucy Montgomery, the house and ten (10) acres
where she now lives. 

The balance of my tract I give to my son, Enoch Davis's other children to be
divided among them.

I also give to my grandson, John Davis, son of Enoch Davis, one bed and and
furniture.

I also give to my daughter Rebecca Roberts one desk.

I give to my three daughters, Nancy, Sarah and Elizabeth, all the balance of
of my house and kitchen furniture.

In witness  whereof I the said John Davis have to this my last will and 
testament set my hand and seal the day and year above written.

Caswell County                        October term 1861

The execution of this paper writing purporting to be the last will and
testament of John Davis Was duly proven in open court by the oaths of Pleasant
Chandler and Bluford Reid, two of the subscribing witnesses thereto and on
motion the souce was ordered to be recorded.
