This Indenture made this twenty fifth day of July in the year one thousand eight hundred and one, between Nathan Dever of the County of Buncombe and State of No. Carolina of the first part and Phillip Hafley of the County of Chester and State of South Carolina of the other part Witnesseth. That for and in consideration of the sum of one hundred and eighty dollars to me in hand paid before the sealing of these presents paid by the sd Haffle the receipt whereof ... hereby acknowledged the said Nathan Dever doth by these presents bargain sell alien and convey and confirm unto the said Philipp Haffle a certain piece or parcel of land, situate, lying and being in the County aforesaid on both sides of a small creek that empties in on the West side of Pigeon River, about about one mile above the old war ford. Beginning on a white oak on John Mayes line runs North one hundred and sixty pole to a stake, thence West two hundred poles to a stake, thence South one hundred and sixty poles to a stake, thence East to the Beginning. To have and to hold to the said Philip Haffley and to his heirs the above described land with all its ways, waters, water courses, hereditaments to the same belonging or in any wise appertaining, there unto. As an indefeasible an estate of inheritance to him the said Phillip Haffley and to his heirs forever, free and disembled from all debts judgements executions and dowers whatsoever, the taxes only to the Public exempted futhermore the said Nathan Dever as well against myself as all other persons whatsoever do warrant and defend against all manner of persons whatsoever.
