Beaufort County, NC – Deeds – John Spiers to Michael King, 1752 ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ This Indenture made 4 day of Sept 1752 Between John Spiers of [blank] County planter of the one part & Machael King of Bertie County of the [blank] part Witnesseth that the said John Spiers for the consideration of Sixty [blank] as currency of Virginia in hand paid, the receipt whereof in hereby acknowledged hath given granted bargained & sold, conveyed and confirmed [blank] these presents absolutely sell convey & confirm unto Michael King his heirs & assigns forever a certain tract of land containing one hundred & sixty acres lying in Beaufort County [boundary descriptions mention: E side of Conito Creek, mouth of Wiggins’ Branch]...to the first Station as by Patent 28th June 1738 To have and to hold said land unto Michael King his heirs & assigns for ever in a firm ample manner as an estate in fee simple can absolutely be held or enjoyed with the reversion reversions, remainder & remainders free & clear of all incumbrances, whatsoever the quit rents only excepted & the said John Spiers for himself & his heirs do covenant & agree to & with Michael King & his heirs to warrant, & defend said land & premises against the lawful claims of any person or persons whatsoever, & to give any other conveyance for the confirmation of the premises unto said Michael King his heirs & assigns as in law or equity can be reasonably divised In testimony whereof I have hereunto Set my hand & Seal the day & year above written John Spiers {Seal} Sealed & delivered } In presence of } John Holland } Beaufort County 1752 Francis Hobson & } Present his Majesties Justices the within William Ham } deed was exhibited into court & proved by the oath of Francis Hobson one of the Subscribing witnesses thereto it is record to be registered Yr.
