THIS INDENTURE Made this Twentieth of January in the year of our Lord one 
thousand Eight Hundred Between EBENEZER MARSH of the one part and ROBERT 
ELLETT of the other part both of the State of North Carolina & County of Anson 
WITNESSETH that for and in consideration of Ten Dollars to me in hand paid 
that I have bargained & Sold unto him the said ROBERT ELLETT a certain tract 
or parcel of land on the West side of Lanes Creek it being part of 200 acres 
of land granted to the said EBENEZER MARSH by his Excellency WILLI (sic) R. 
DAVIE in the year of our Lord one Thousand Seven Hundred and Ninety Nine and 
23rd year of American Independence Beginning at the second corner of sd. Land 
on a post oak it being Wm. GREEN'S corner & runs thence No. 74 East 24 Chains 
in or near JOHN ELLETT line to a stake then No. 25 East 8 Chains & 20 Links to 
a post oak at or near JOHN ELLETTS corner then No. 24 West 16 chains and 50 
Links to a stake with red oak and pine pointers then No. 17 Chains to a pine 
then S. Eight W. fifteen Chains to a stake thence So. 20 Wt. as far as may 
require to include one hundred acres thence to the Beginning to have and to 
hold the said Lands and premises Clear of all incumbrances to the said ROBERT 
ELLETT his heirs and assigns forever and I the said EBENEZER MARSH for myself 
my heirs and assigns l do hereby promise covenant and agree to warrant and 
forever Defend the said Land and premises to the said ROBERT ELLETT and his 
heirs and assigns against myself my heirs and assigns but not against any 
other Lawful Claim in Witness hereunto I have set my hand and seal the day and 
year first above written.
