Distad, 98, longtime Central Montana area resident, died Wednesday morning at Valle Vista manor after an extended illness. He was born July 4, 1889 at Hayfield, MN., the son of Olie and Louise Distad. He received his schooling at Hayfield and spent his early life there. In 1913 he moved to Montana and lived at Conrad where he worked for his Uncle. In 1915 he moved to the Roy area where he homesteaded and lived until 1964 when he moved to Lewistown to make his home. On June 24, 1930 he married Mildred D. Nelson in Lewistown. She preceded him in death in 1976. Distad was a veteran of World War One, having served with the U.S. Army in France. He was a member of the American Legion and World War One veterans. He is survived by one sister, Mabel L. Boe, in Hayfield, MN. He was preceded in death by his parents, four brothers and two sisters. Funeral services for Raymond T. Distad were held at the Cloyd Funeral Home Friday morning at 11:30 with Roger Cripe of Jehovah Witnesses officiating. Organist Barbara Harchenko accompanied soloist Loyd Bowen on “Keep your Eyes on the Prize” and The Resurrection-God’s Loving Provision”. Pallbearers were Robert Abbott, Toby Baukeman, Ivan Erdman, Robert Montgomery, Todd Paler and John Van Engen. Honorary Pallbearers were Harold Bauman, Don Kalina, Milton Kalina, Richard Kalina, Monte Lund, Tye Lund, Nick Spiroff and Ed Styer. Military honors were provided by Roy Post No. 96 American Legion. Final interment was in Sunset Memorial Gardens. Friends wishing to do so may make memorials to the Central Montana Hospital or the charity of their choice and they may be left at the funeral home.
