Schons for many years a highly respected resident of Granby township, this county, and of late years residing at Mahnomen, died in the St. James hospital at Perham on Sunday, July 30, at 3 o'clock p.m. after an illness of eight weeks following an operation for bladder trouble. Deceased was born near Port Washington, Wis., October 15, 1854 and would have been sixty-eight years old next October. When fourteen years of age, he came to Nicollet county with his parents and has resided here ever since with the exception of the last several years which he spent at Mahnomen. On Sept. 16, 1880, he was united in marriage to Miss Anna Welter at Le Sueur who passed away nine years ago in June. He was married for a second time Sept. 5, 1915 to Mrs. Veronica Holt at Mahnomen. Eleven children blessed the first union, all of whom are living, they are: Mrs. Math. Schouveller of Ogema; Mrs. Jos. Mans, Belgrade; John, Charles, Nick and Leo, all of Nicollet; Mike Joseph and Anton of Mankato; Peter of Lake Crystal; and Mrs. Carl Joern of Nicollet. Deceased is also survived by one sister, Mrs. M. Morson, Sr. of St. Peter. The funeral was held Wednesday morning at ten o'clock, Rev. Fr. Hrachovsky conducting the service at St. Paul's Catholic church, and the remains were interred in the new cemetery of that parish south of this village. The bereaved relatives have the sympathy of all their friends.
