Made Available to The USGenWeb Archives by: Vivian Christensen Original document provided by: Dave Schmit Obituary for Mrs. Elizabeth Schmit Abstracted from the Nicollet Leader, September 12, 1925 Died: August 30, 1925 Born: In 1840 in Thorn Kreis, Saarburg, Germany Spouse: Anton Schmit of Wellenstein Luxemburg Married: 1868 Resided in Paris until 1870 when they were forced to leave by war. After the war ended they returned to Paris and lived there until they emigrated in 1882. They came directly to Belgrade Township. She was the mother of four children. Three of them died in the old country. Survived by: Julius Schmit, with whom she has lived since her husband's death. She is also survived by seven grandchildren and one great- grandchild. Funeral was held from her son's home on Tuesday, September 1st at 10 o'clock and from the Belgrade Catholic church at 10:30. Rev. Fr. Hrachovsky officiated. Interment in the cemetery of that parish.
