These electronic pages may NOT be reproduced in any format for profit or presentation by other organizations. 1883 Mecosta County Portrait and Bio Album, Chapman Brothers LEONARD HYATT, farmer, sec. 26, Green Tp., was born in Allegany Co., N.Y., Aug. 28, 1829. His parents, James and Martha (Smalley) Hyatt, were natives of the State of New York, and located in 1832, near Lodi, Washtenaw Co., Mich. Mr. Hyatt grew to manhood in the manner common to the sons of farmers, being trained to honest, thrifty habits, and acquiring a fair elementary education at the district schools. He was married in 1856 to Catherine Gallady, born May 23, 1839, in Stark Co., Ohio. In 1858 he entered a claim of 80 acres of land, and proceeded vigorously with the work of cultivation and improvement. Children: Marion M., James E., Walter L., and Martha B. Ida May and Alice are deceased.
