Joe was born to Ed and Sylvia Duso Weaver on October 22, 1922, and lived in Ionia his whole life. Joe belonged to SS. Peter & Paul Church and graduated from SSPP school in 1940. In 1942 he went into the US Army Battery A 171st field artillery battalion and was honorably discharged in 1945. He worked his whole life, from age 16, at Berger Motor Sales, working himself up to salesman. Joe belonged to the Ionia Moose Lodge, Knights of Columbus, VFW and American Legion. Joe was well known around the Ionia area and will be sadly missed. He was preceded in death by his parents; brother, Charles; sister, Ruth Ann; sister-in-law, Virginia; and brother-in-laws, Gaylord Pline and Gerold Keeney and Robert Mellinger. He is survived by his two brothers, Thomas (Arlene), Bernie (Bev); three sisters, Norine Zeller, Clara Pline, Edna Keeney; and several nieces and nephews; and also three special friends, Amy Gregory, Roberta Briggs and Kaye Black. Funeral mass will be held 11 a.m. Thursday at SS Peter and Paul Catholic Church with Father Melvin Fox celebrant. Interment Mt. Olivet Cemetery. Visitation will be held Tuesday 6 to 8 p.m. with rosary at 8 p.m. at Lake Funeral Home in Ionia. Anyone wishing may make a memorial contribution to Ionia Hospice.
