Roy was born on June 27, 1957 in Belding the son of Ernest and Rosemary Shindorf VanOcker. Roy attended Forest Grove and Freedom Acres School. He participated in Special Olympics and worked at EBI Breakthough and the Ionia Theater. Roy was a honorary member of Squires Circle No. 3758 and enjoyed traveling and camping with his family. Roy was preceded in death by his brother Bruce VanOcker and niece Brenda Lynn VanOcker. Roy leaves behind his parents Ernest and RosemaryVanOcker, Brothers Dale and Maria VanOcker, Ben and Barbara VanOcker, Ralph and Gerri VanOcker; sisters, Cathy Jo and David Ramsey, Sue and Mark Pitcher, Phyllis and Scott Sprader and was "Uncle Roy" to 19 nieces and nephews, 1 great niece and many aunts, uncles, cousins and "Sweet ones". Mass of Christian burial will be 11 a.m. Friday at St. Joseph Catholic Church, Belding with Father Phil Salmonowicz presiding. Visitation will be Thursday 2 to 4 p.m. and 6 to 9 p.m. with a rosary prayed at 8:30pm at Johnson-Feuerstein Funeral Home, Belding. Interment will be in St. Joseph Cemetery. The family asks that in lieu of flowers memorial contributions may be given to St. Joseph Catholic Church, The Special Olympics or The Belding Library.
