Ionia Sentinel Standard, 16 Nov 1988

Henry L. “Vern” Slocum, 79, of Ionia died Nov. 13 at the Ionia Manor.  He was
born the son of Matthew and Lucille Staub Slocum Dec. 8, 1908 in Hubbardston.

He graduated from the Hubbardston High School around 1926.  He was a factory
worker most of his life, working at General Tire in Ionia.  

He is survived by two nephews, Richard Slocum and Jerry Slocum, both of Lansing;
three nieces, Shirley Pincik of Owosso, Charlotte Cunningham of Lansing and
Carol Slocum of Texas.  He was preceded in death by one brother Virgil, in 1980.

Cremation has taken place.  Graveside services will be 11 a.m. Saturday Nov. 19
at the West Side Cemetery in Hubbardston with the Rev. Ray Grienke of the United
Methodist Church of Carson City officiating.  Arrangements made by Cook Funeral
Home, Ionia.
