Owen, 63, of South Ionia, died Thursday evening, following several years of poor health and several weeks of critical illness. Funeral services will be held Sunday, 1:30 at the home of the members of the family, and 2 o’clock at the Boynton funeral chapel. Those wishing to view the remains should call at the house anytime before 1 o’clock Sunday. Burial will be in Woodard Lake cemetery. Surviving are the wife, Ida; a son, Carl, of Belding; two brothers, Fred Owen, of Grand Rapids, and Charles Owen, of Lyons, and a sister, Mrs. James Little, of Grand Rapids. Mr. Owen is a native of New York. He came to Ionia county with his parents, Mr. and Mrs. Henery Owen, when he was a small boy. They located in Ronald. He had been employed at the Pere Marquette car shops for 24 years. He installed the first engine used in the equipment and was the last man to draw the water from the boilers when the shops were closed. He was a member for years of the Odd Fellow lodge. He was a member of the Masonic lodge and members from this organization will have charge of the services.
