The funeral was under the auspices of the Elks, and the brothers were in 
attendance to the number of 80.  The service was at St. John’s Episcopal 
church, the rector, Rev. F. H. Blunt, officiating, conducting the ritual 
service, and having the assistance of Rev. Cyrus Mendenhall, who preached the 
sermon, in which he spoke feelingly of deceased as a long-time personal 
friend, and took occasion to commend the citizens’ committee for its kindly 
and helpful offices in the great emergency.

The bearers were: Bert Lampkin, S.C.L. Brown, Dr. Jno. J. Green, Dr. J. J. 
Defendorf, Wm. F. Marquette, Horace B. Lynes.

The remains will rest in the Wagar vault for a time.
