McIlhargey, 72, of 394 Caroline died early Tuesday morning at Ionia County Memorial hospital where he was admitted Monday. Born in Manistee December 26, 1901, he was the son of Charles and Mary McGee McIlhargey. When eight he moved with his parents to Detroit where he graduated from Holy Rosary school. In March of 1920 he entered the service serving with the marines until his discharge in 1923. September 17, 1932, he was married in Plymouth to Mary Yuchas. She survives. He made his home in Detroit and Wayne before moving to Ionia in 1954. He was employed at Mitchell-Bentley Corporation of Ionia in the material control department until 1959 when he left to work for the American Auto Felt Corporation, later the Chrysler plant in Lyons, until he retired in 1969. He was a member of the SS Peter and Paul church and the Fr. Fierle council of Knights of Columbus. Besides his wife, Mary, he leaves a son, Charles of Westland, and daughter, Mrs. Kathleen Bollinger of Ionia; four grandchildren; brother, Joseph of Santa Barbara, Calif. Funeral services will be Friday at 11 a.m. at SS Peter and Paul church. Fr. Jack Findlay will officiate and interment will be at Mt. Olivet cemetery. Rosary will be recited Thursday at 7:30 p.m. at the Leddick funeral home.
