Lake Odessa Wave, 29 Jul 1943

John MacIver Died From Stroke Fri.

John MacIver, a resident of Lake Odessa between 25 and 30 years ago, died 
Friday at his home in Wellsley Hills, a suburb of Boston, Mass.  He was manager 
of the medicine department of the United (Rexall) Drug Co., at their main 
offices in Boston.

He was on a trip to San Francisco for the company a week or two ago when he was 
stricken with paralysis.  He was returned to his home where he died.  He was 
about 49 years old and had been married over 25 years to the former Miss Olive 
Nye, a daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Frank Nye, both deceased, and a niece of Mr. 
and Mrs. Alton L. Nye here.

Mr. MacIver was born at Grand Marais, U.P., and received his early training in 
pharmacy in the Nye Drug store here.  Besides the widow, he is survived by two 
sons in the navy and his mother at Grand Marais.
