Ionia Sentinel Standard, 4 Aug 1934

The death of Herbert Lowe, 80 years old, retired miller of Lake Odessa, 
occurred Friday evening at 9 o’clock at the hospital in Lake Odessa, old age 
being the cause.  He leaves but one near relative, a brother, D.O. Lowe, of 
Sebewa.  Three weeks after the death of Mrs. Lowe, which occurred in February, 
1934, he had a stroke and has been in poor health since.  He came to Lake 
Odessa many years ago and worked under Robert Ainsworth and Lemuel Heator in 
the mills.  After the death of Mr. Heator, Mr. Lowe left Lake Odessa for a 
while, returning 15 years ago to spend the rest of his life in retirement at 
his home on Fifth avenue in Lake Odessa.  He had been a Mason for 40 years, and 
for more than a decade has acted as janitor and tyler of the Masonic lodge.  
Funeral services will be conducted from his home Monday afternoon at 2 
o’clock.  Rev. George J. Start, of the Congregational church, will officiate.
