The Ionia Daily Sentinel-Standard, Tuesday, July 31, 1941
Funeral services were held Wednesday morning at 11 a.m. from the Boynton 
funeral home on Rich street for Mrs. Emma J. Hemens who died Sunday at her 
home on North Jefferson Street.  Rev. F. G. Dunbar officiated and interment 
was held at 3:30 p.m. at the Woodland cemetery at Jackson.  Bearers were 
relatives of the deceased.

Those attending the service from out of town were Rollin D. Hemens of Chicago; 
Mrs. Minnie R. VanLeuven, Mrs. Georgianna Mitchell, Mr. and Mrs. Clarence 
Watts, Mr. and Mrs. John Watts, and Clare Hitchcock of Jackson; Dr. and Mrs. 
F. T. Andrews of Bay City; Mr. and Mrs. Robert Bohnet, Mrs. Harold Rogers and 
Mrs. Sylvia Canfield of Lansing; Mr. and Mrs. Eugene Austin and Mr. and Mrs. 
P. T. Hendricksen of Grand Rapids; and Mr. and Mrs. Neil Townsend of Detroit.
