The Ionia Sentinel-Standard, date unknown
Bernard F. Hansknecht, 84, of Ionia, formerly of Grand Rapids, passed away 
Wednesday, April 17, 2003 at Metropolitan Hospital.  He was born at home on 
June 7, 1918.

He was a retired American Seating employee and a well-known upholsterer.  He 
loved big band music and reminiscing and you could always find dad in the 
garage tinkering.  He was the son of Frank and Francis Hansknecht and a proud 
World War II veteran.

He was preceded in death by his wife, Bertha; his son, Robert Paul Hansknecht; 
and his grandson, Terry Andrew Hansknecht.  He is survived by his son, Anthony 
F. Hansknecht, and his fiancee Lise Shook; stepdaughter, Beverly and Elwin 
Hall of Ionia, seven grandchildren; eight great-grandchildren; two great-great 
grandchildren; sisters, Mary Dykhouse and Rita Johnson; brother Frank and 
Helen Hansknecht.  He is also survived by his little dog and best friend, Lady.

His family will receive friends at the funeral home Thursday from 2 p.m. to 4 
p.m. and from 7 p.m. to 9 p.m.  Funeral services will be held Friday at 2 p.m. 
at Memorial Alternatives, 2423 Fuller Ave. NE.
