Gatner, 73, of Lake Odessa died suddenly Thursday on the street near his home of a heart attack. He was born in Morrow county, Ohio, July 18, 1874, and came to West Odessa township with his parents when five years old. He was married in 1899 to Ina Fought of Odessa. They have resided in that vicinity since their marriage. A number of years ago they moved into the city of Lake Odessa. Mr. Gatner at one time was employed at the school as an engineer and also at the Lake Odessa Canning company as an engineer. Surviving him are the wife, Ina; three daughters, Mrs. Francis Rairigh and Mrs. Virginia Dye of Lake Odessa and Mrs. Carolyn Randall of Detroit; three sons, Dolph of Lansing, Clare of Detroit and Paul of Lake Odessa; 13 grandchildren and three sisters, Mrs. Anna Haight, Mrs. Flora Mote and Miss Verda Gatner of Lansing. Funeral services will be held Saturday at 2 p.m. at the Pickens funeral chapel with the Rev. Victor Thrall officiating. Interment will be at Lakeside cemetery.
