The Ionia Sentinel-Standard, Monday, April 8, 1985
Casper J. Funkey, 94, of 315 State Street, Ionia, died Sunday in Belding 
Christian Nursing Home.  He was born in Ionia June 11, 1890, the son of Casper 
and Lena Bauer Funkey and attended SS. Peter and Paul schools.  A 30-year 
employee of Michigan Reformatory, he retired in 1960.  He was a member of SS. 
Peter and Paul Church.  He was married to the former Rose Koster in July of 
1923.

Surviving are his wife; a son, Donald, of Ionia; and a daughter, Rosemary 
Cooper of Illinois; four grandchildren and two great grandchildren, and a 
sister, Eva Parks of Ferndale.  Three sisters preceded him in death.  

Funeral mass will be Wednesday at 11 a.m. from SS. Peter and Paul Church.  
Burial will be in Mount Olivet Cemetery.  Parish rosary will be Tuesday 
evening at 8 p.m. at Roetman Funeral Home.  The family will be at the funeral 
home Tuesday only from 2 to 4 p.m. and 7 to 9 p.m.
