Leonard M. Fox, 73, of Portland passed away on Fri., Oct. 19, 2001.

He was born on Sept. 17, 1928 in Pewamo, the son of Andrew and Amelia (Blundy) 
Fox.  Len was a veteran of the Korean War, serving in the United States Army.  
He retired as the manufacturing superintendent of the TRW Portland Plant in 
1990.

Len was an enthusiastic outdoorsman with a great love for the woods and water.  
He greatly cherished good times spent with family, friends and neighbors.

He was preceded in death by a brother, Steven.

Surviving are his wife of 51 years, Mary Lou (Smith) Fox.  Together they 
successfully raised eight children, Patricia, who preceded him in death in 
1973, Peg Fox of Portland, Larry (Deb) Fox of Portland, Janie (Jerome) 
Schneider of Pewamo, Beth (Mike) Martin of Portland, David (Kim) Fox of 
Portland, Tom (Krista) Fox of Lowell, and Doug (Angie) Fox of Portland; 17 much 
appreciated grandchildren; a brother, James Fox of Gladwin; sisters, Joan 
Schafer of Pewamo, Vonnie Robinson of Lyons, Jeannette Shea of Georgia and 
Diane Gardner of Arizona; special long time friends, Jack Gilbert and Max Fish.

The funeral service will be conducted by the Rev. Charles D. Hall, Pastor and 
John Piercefield at 11 a.m., Monday at the Schrauben-Lehman Funeral Home, 1301 
E. Grand River Ave., Portland with rite of committal following at Portland 
Cemetery.  Military graveside honors will be provided by the VFW Post 4090.  
The family will receive friends from 7 p.m. to 9 p.m., Saturday and 2 p.m. to 4 
p.m. and 7 p.m. to 9 p.m., Sunday at the funeral home.

In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the Ionia Area 
Hospice, 117 N. Depot St., Ionia, MI 48846, in his memory.
