The Ionia Weekly Standard, Friday, August 16, 1907


Ettie Bliss, youngest daughter of Mrs. J. A. Bliss, was born in Orange, Ionia 
Co., Dec. 29, 1881, and died on Friday morning, July 26, 1907.  She was 
married to Eugene Fosburgh, Dec. 10, 1902, and to them were born two children, 
Harold and Alta Mae, Alta Mae dying Feb. 8, 1907.

She had been in poor health for several years, but until a few months ago was 
not considered dangerously sick.  Ettie was over modest, quiet and cheerful; 
always ready and willing for the task, no matter how hard.  She was 
everybody’s friend, and a friend to everybody.  She will be greatly missed.

The mother mourns the loss of a daughter, and the husband with his little 
babe, a loving and devoted wife, who has been a faithful helpmate during their 
few short years of happiness.

The heartfelt sympathy of the entire community is with them in their 
bereavement.  Funeral was held Sunday afternoon at the W. M. church, Rev. 
Simmons officiating, and the remains were laid to rest in the Balcom cemetery.

We wish to express our sincere thanks to the many neighbors and friends who so 
kindly assisted us during the sickness and at death of our beloved wife and 
daughter, and especially to the choir; also for the many floral offerings.
