He was 70 years of age and leaves besides his widow five children. Mrs. J. A. Mountain and Miss Molly Dows of Detroit, Mrs. J. W. Hansen of Belding, Pearl of Ionia, and John of Grand Rapids. The funeral service will be held from the residence, 133 Lytle, Friday afternoon at 2:30 with interment in Highland cemetery. Mr. Dows was a victim of Pyorrhea and consequent systemic poisoning. On Tuesday he submitted to the extraction of his teeth and apparently rallied but his system was enfeebled by the long encroachment of the disease and his strength failed to endure. He has been well and favorably known here for many years as an untiring worker, conscientious in the performance of his labors and a good citizen. He was born in the Netherlands and at age 20 years took up his residence in this city. Rev. M. L. Marshall will officiate at the funeral.
