Ionia Sentinel Standard, 23 Oct 1969

Mrs. Bertha Doane, 89, of 214 Lincoln, Pewamo, died Wednesday evening at Carson 
City hospital following an extended illness.  She was born April 19, 1880 in 
Chicago, Ill, the daughter of Julius and Mary Metzke.  November 15, 1899 she 
was married in Chicago to Lester Doane who died in 1944.  She lived in Fenwick 
for many years before coming to Pewamo in 1926.

Surviving are two daughters, Mrs. Florence Calkins of Fenwick and Maude E. 
Doane of Pewamo; one son, Ralph L. Doane of Pewamo; six grandchildren and 23 
great grandchildren and nine great great grandchildren.

Funeral services will be Saturday at 11 a.m. at Stone-Kauffman funeral home in 
Ionia.  Interment will be at Shanty Plains cemetery at Fenwick.
