Hastings Banner Library Clippings – book 22, page 265 Services for DeForest Darling, 55, of East Lansing, who died suddenly Wednesday afternoon, Aug. 19, were held Saturday at 1:30 at the Pickens Chapel, Lake Odessa. Rev. Isaac Osgood officiated with interment in Lakeside Cemetery. Mr. Darling died in his office. He was born April 23, 1915 at Lake Odessa, the son of Charles and Edythe (Koob) Darling and attended the Lake Odessa schools. He married Gertrude Curtis of Woodland in January, 1934, and they moved to Lansing in 1936. He was employed for many years by the E. Lansing public school system and for the past 11 years by the State Highway Department. Mr. Darling served in the Navy in World War II. Surviving are his wife, two sons; eight grandchildren; a sister, Mrs. Carlton (Frances) Fuller of Lake Odessa and a (unreadable).
