Carmen A. Bowerman, 76, of Ionia, died Friday at Blodgett Memorial Hospital in
Grand Rapids.  She was born August 31, 1916, in Gwinn, Michigan, the daughter of
Charles and Bridgett Poggi.  She married John Bowerman, in Ishpeming.  He
preceded her in death in 1975.  They lived in Ionia for more than 50 years,
after moving from Ishpeming.  She was graduated from Negaunee High School and
was a member of the SS. Peter and Paul Catholic Church.

She is survived by six sons; Jack, Dale, Robert, Gary, Peter, and Paul of Ionia;
34 grandchildren and 19 great grandchildren; one brother Charles Poggi of
Ishpeming; nieces and nephews.  She was preceded in death by one daughter,
Mableann Bowerman; three sisters and a brother.

Funeral services will be 11 a.m. Monday at SS. Peter and Paul Catholic Church
with the Rev. Charles Hall officiating.  Organist will be Mary Cusack.  Rosary
services will be 8 p.m. Sunday, at the Rich Street Chapel of Cook Funeral Home
in Ionia.  The family will be at the funeral home from 2 to 4 p.m. Saturday and
from 2 to 4 and 7 to 8:30 p.m. Sunday.  Burial will be in the Nagaunee Cemetery.
 Pallbearers will be John, Brian, Tom, and Brent Bowerman, Mark Syrjala, and
Robert Warren.  Memorials have been established for the Fun Forest of Ionia, in
care of the funeral home.
