He was born Feb. 24, 1921 in Cleveland, lived in Amherst for 21 years, and had a summer home in Harrison, Michigan for 27 years. He moved to Palm Bay, Florida in 1985. He was employed by Ohio Edison, Lorain, for 37 years, and was well known as a "trouble shooter" for the company He served in the U.S. Navy during WWII on board the U.S.S. Teton for 3 l/2 years, the command ship in the invasion of Okinawa. He was a past member of the Nativity Blessed Virgin Mary Catholic Church, Lorain, a past member and usher of both St. Athanasius Catholic Church in Harrison, MI and Our Lady of Grace Catholic Church in Palm Bay, Florida. He was a lifetime member of the following organizations: Polish Legion of American Veterans, United Polish Club, Ohio Edison Mens Club, all of Lorain Ohio, and the Knights of Columbus, Harrison, Mich. Andy enjoyed sports and gardening. He played baseball and fast pitch softball for a number of leagues in Lorain, Ohio. He also enjoyed golf and played in the Devil's Knob senior golf league in Harrison, MI. He is survived by his wife of 58 years, Dorothy (nee Kozel), three daughters: Diane (husband Bill) Hall of Satellite Beach, FL, Gail (husband Nick) Motto of Elk Grove, CA, and Andrea (husband Dewey) Perrigo of Westlake Village, CA; two sons: Thomas (wife Eileen) Niemiec of Lorain, Ohio, and Terry Niemiec, of Palm Bay, Fl; ll grandchilden and a Great Grandchild; brother of John Niemiec of Strongsville, OH, Ed Niemiec of Lorain, OH, Stephanie Dupuie of Dearborn, MI, and Helen Mastefson of Rockledge, FL; 9 nephews and two neices. He was preceded in death by his parents: John and Katherine Niemiec, Sr.; infant son, Thomas Joseph; sister Mary Flontck; and three infant siblings: Leo, Helen, and Mary. Family received friends at the Misencik Funeral Home, 36363 Detroit Rd., Avon, Ohio Sunday 2-4 and 7-9 p.m. Closing prayers were Monday 9:15 a.m. at the funeral home, followed by a l0 a.m. mass at Nativity Blessed Vrgin Mary Catholic Church, Lorain, Ohio, with the Reverend Robert Glepko, pastor, officiating.
