Usrey, 22 Jan 1914 - 29 June 1915 [Callaway Post Office discontinued 30 June 1915, with mail forwarded to Louter Post Offie.] ================================================================================== COMMENTS: #1 According to an 1860s map, Cherry Ridge was located near the northern corners of Sections 8 and 9, Township 22 North, Range 1 West, just about six miles due east of Spearsville. It was an important little village until after the turn of the century. #2 William Cleaton Carr served as postmaster for the first ten years. He was a pioneer settler of Union Parish, arriving in about 1835 or 1836. He served as the first sheriff, was a farmer, physcian, and lumberman. He moved from Cherry Ridge to Farmerville in the early 1870s and served as the postmaster there from 1875 through 1878. ###########################################################
