Mrs. Ford died on Thursday, July 6, 2000. Interment was at the Wyoming Cemetery in Newellton under the direction of Richardson Funeral Home of Winnsboro. Mrs. Ford was Vice-President of the NAACP Tensas Chapter, Secretary of the Union Sister Society and Treasurer at the St. John M. B. Church where she was a longtime faithful member and deaconess. She had a strong sense of both civic and educational involvement. Mrs. Ford was preceded in death by her parents, Ellen Lawson and Ed Johnson of Newellton, a son and a sister. Survivors include her husband, Richard Ford, Jr.; three daughters: Miranda, Chandra and her husband Corey and Mona and her husband Edward; and granddaughter, Ta'lor, all of Baton Rouge; two godsons, Karl Jones, Jr. Of Newellton and Robert Williams of Midland, Texas; godmother, Rachel Jones of Tallulah; six sisters, Helen and her husband Morgan of Baker, Ruthie of Waterproof, Rachel of Chicago, Illinois, Katie and her husband Joseph, Louisa and Joyce all of Newellton; seven brothers, Cornell and his wife Dorothy of Gilbert, Johnny of Riverside, California, Gregory and his wife Cherie of Realto, California, Darrell and his wife Delores of St. Joseph, Joel, Mark and Odell, all of Newellton; an uncle; three aunts; and a host of nieces, nephews and other relatives and friends. Pallbearers were Jake Ford, Richard Ford, Alien Ford, Robert Ford, Patrick Ford, Dewayne Ford, Jeffery Ford, Freidsburg Gray and Johnny Williams. Honorary Pallbearers were Deacons of St. John M. B. Church.
