TORRENCE, DEACON LEO

A beloved husband, father and grandfather, he died Saturday, Oct. 13, 2000, at 
Magnolia Place Rehabilitation and Care Center, Baton Rouge. He was 74 and a native 
of Kentwood. Visiting at MJR Friendly Service Funeral Home Inc., 7803 Florida Blvd., 
Denham Springs, from 1 p.m. to 8 p.m. Friday. Religious services at St. Helena 
Baptist Church, Greensburg, at 1 p.m. Saturday, conducted by the Rev. Lee Allen 
Pounds Jr. Interment in church cemetery. Survived by his wife, Ollie Mae Perry 
Torrence; three daughters and two sons-in-law, Elaine Johnson, Shirley and Gerald 
Clarke, and Gloria and Donald Kelley; two sons and daughters-in-law, George and 
Rachiel Torrence and Derrick and Phoebe Torrence; 16 grandchildren; a great-
grandchild; two sisters, Eula Robinson and Mary McCoy; three sisters-in-law, Ida 
Torrence, Winnie Torrence and Della Kelly; two brothers-in-law, J.W. Perry and 
Edward Moore; and numerous other relatives and friends.

TORRENCE, J.W.

2 Dec 1932; p. 1, col. 1:  Mr. J. W. Torrence, 81, of New
Orleans, died Saturday.  Funeral was Monday in New Orleans;
interment in St. Vincent Cemetery.  Survivors include, Robert
and Charles Torrence of Hammond, W. C. Torrence of Ponchatoula,
Mrs. C. L. Dillenbeck of Santa Ana, CA, Mrs. P. L. Roser and
Arthur Torrence of New Orleans.
