Survivors include his wife, Barbara Showers of Independence; two daughters, Patra Rankins of Hammond and Sandra Burton Williams of Hammond; two sons, Jessie Showers Jr. of Belville, Ill., and Alfred Showers Sr. of Natalbany; seven sisters, Annie McNichols, Annie Mae Bell, Georgia Richardson, Flora J. Henry, Earline Garner Showers, all of Hammond, Lula Bell Smith of Springfield and Eula Mae Maye of Monticello, Miss.; one brother, Alrvester Showers of Albany; six stepchildren; 19 grandchildren and five great-grandchildren. Visitation will be today at Mount Vernon Missionary Baptist Church, Hammond, from 4 p.m. until the Rev. Samuel Brown conducts the funeral at 7. Dismissal will be Saturday at 11 a.m. followed by burial at Holly Garden Cemetery, Hammond. Richardson Funeral Home, Hammond, is in charge. *************************************************************************** Obituary published in The Hammond Daily Star on: 11/01/2001 SHOWERS, ROY Roy Showers, 73, died Oct. 25, 2001. He was a native of Nehabran, Miss., and worked as a logger. He is survived by his wife, Vilmon Showers of Livingston; four daughters, Arfield Taylor of Albany, Vera Kelly of Pride, Clementine Scott of Livingston and Jeanette Walls of Hammond; one son, Alvin Earl Showers of Washington, D.C.; seven sisters, Eula Mae May, Silver Creek, Miss., Lula Smith of Springfield, Flora Henry, Earline Garner, Annie Mae Bell, Annie Ree McNickles and Georgia Richardson, all of Hammond; two brothers, Jessie Lee Showers of Independence and Arveste Showers of Albany; 17 grandchildren, 17 great-grandchildren and one great-great-grandchild. He was preceded in death by three brothers, N.A. Showers, Wilma and Robert Showers; two children, Roy N. Showers and Linda Faye Showers; and two grand- children. Visitation will be Friday at Richardson Funeral Home, Hammond, from 2 to 5 p.m. The Rev. Robert Earl Smith will conduct the funeral at 7 p.m. at Mount Vernon Baptist Church, Hammond. Dismissal will be Saturday at 11 a.m. Burial will be in Pleasant Grove Baptist Church Cemetery, Silver Creek, Miss. ***************************************************************************
