He was a native of Eastman, Ga., and a member of First United Methodist Church in Ponchatoula. Survivors include his wife, Jean Malcolm Sawyer, Ponchatoula; daughters Carla Sawyer Clark, Mobile, Ala., Linda Sawyer Poole, Longwood, Fla., and Wanda Sawyer Heroman, Ponchatoula; sister Martha Sutton, Macon, Ga.; brother Claude Sawyer, Lafayette, Ind.; nine grandchildren and several nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by parents Ike and Ruby Lee Sawyer and brother Eugene Sawyer. Visitation will be today from 6-9 p.m. at Geisler Funeral Home in Ponchatoula and on Monday from 10 a.m. until the funeral service at Geisler at 1 p.m. The Rev. Sawyer, Stacey L. Sawyer, Darrin G. Vining, Jennifer S. Wilkinson, April S. Sawyer, Karen V. Thompson; also survived by 8 great-grandchildren.
