Santa Marina, 40, a master control operations engineer, died of a heart attack on Wednesday, April 12, 2006, at Tulane University Hospital. He was born Aug. 17, 1965, in New Orleans. He was a graduate of Brother Martin High School and received his bachelor of arts in communications with a minor in Spanish from the University of New Orleans. Upon graduation, he worked in various television studios before gaining the opportunity of employment through a New Orleans local television station, WWL, Channel 4, where he had been a dedicated employee since his date of hire in September 1998. Cortez is survived by his wife, Kimberly Tyre Santa Marina; daughter, Marcelina Isabel Santa Marina, Ponchatoula; mother, Mabel Hobbs Santa Marina, Baton Rouge; sister, Yolanda S. Leehans, Enterprise, Miss.; brother, Juan M. Santa Marina, Albuquerque, N.M.; and nephew, Reinaldo Armas, Metairie. He was preceded in death by his father, Navarro Santa Marina, who was of New Orleans. Visitation at Charbonnet-Labat Funeral Home, 1615 St. Philip St., New Orleans, on Wednesday, April 19, from 9 a.m. until funeral Mass at 11 a.m., with the Rev. Danilo Digal, celebrant. Interment in St. Louis Cemetery No. 3, Esplanade Avenue, New Orleans. ***************************************************************************
