A carpenter and a resident of Ponchatoula, he died Friday, Feb. 11, 2000, at St. Tammany Parish Hospital, Covington. He was 68 and a native of New Orleans. He was a U.S. Navy veteran of the Korean conflict. Visitation at Harry McKneely & Son Funeral Home, Ponchatoula, from 6 p.m. to 10 p.m. Sunday, with vigil prayer service at 7 p.m. Visitation at the funeral home after 8 a.m. Monday. Religious services at St. Joseph Catholic Church, Ponchatoula, at 10 a.m. Monday. Interment in Sand Hill Cemetery. Survived by his wife, Anne Rome Salzer, Ponchatoula; a daughter and son-in-law, Roxanne Salzer Kliebert and Keith Kliebert, Ponchatoula; a son and daughter-in-law, Alfred Joseph Salzer III and Rebecca Armstrong Salzer, Covington; five sisters, Adrien Bettwey, Pineville, Sharon Solomon, Kenner, Jackie Hymel, River Ridge, Iris Waguespack, LaPlace, and Carol Beckelhimer, Metairie; two granddaughters, Sheena and Courtnie Kliebert; and a grandson, Matthew Dalton Salzer. Preceded in death by his parents, Alfred and Mable McKneely Salzer; two sisters, Rita Rome and Rosemary Decker; and a brother, Michael Xavier Salzer. ***************************************************************************
