Mr. Richardson was retired from the U.S. Navy and the United States Government and a lifelong member of Masonic Lodge 369 in South Carolina. He is survived by his wife of 56 years, Kathe E. She was born in Springville, La. on February 9, 1912 to Judge Wiliam Schofield Rownd and Mayhew Cooper Rownd. She graduated from Hammond High School in 1929, and from Louisiana State University in 1933, where she was the first female to earn a degree in Physical Education. She was also the "Darling of LSU" and a member of Kappa Delta Sorority. She was preceded in death by her husband of sixty years, Will Patten Richardson, her brothers, W. Schofield Rownd, Jr. and Tullius C. Rownd, and her daughter, Melissa Richardson Coleman. Survivors include her daughter, Lucinda Richardson Anderson, and her husband, Robert of Ponchatoula, La.; five grandaughters, Virginia Cole Logan (John), Lucinda Cole Cucuzzella (Tony), Kathleen Cole Wenzel, Lauren Coleman Garcia (David), and Amanda Richardson Coleman; 10 great-grand- children and countless relatives and friends. She was a founding member of St. Martin's Episcopal Church, the second woman elected to the Vestry, ECW Woman of the Year, and the Episcopal Diocesan Woman of the Year. She also served as Hospitality Chairman for many years and was a member of the Altar Guild and St. Cecilia's Guild, and contributed her time and talents whenever needed in almost every capacity. She was a founder and first President of Town and Country Garden Club in 1953, and was a founder of Entre Nous Book Club in 1945. As an active volunteer and former Volunteer of the Year at Longue Vue Gardens, she was endearingly called the "Lead Weed" for her dedicated work in the Herb Garden, which she founded. She remained very active in these organizations up until her death. "Lulu" was passionate about working in her yard at home and at Chipahoa, her country house on the Tangipahoa River. She also found time to sew all her own clothes, mend and knit for all family members, cook and entertain for multitudes of people with true southern hospitality, travel (particularly to the mountains of North Carolina), refinish furniture, lay brick patios, paint, and on and on. She attended aerobics regularly and loved walking-daily in her Metairie neighborhood, and annually in the Cresent City Classic until 1999. Lulu leaves behind a legacy of love and was an inspiration to everyone. Her extraordinarily positive attitude, healthy lifestyle, and enthusiasm for all of life kept her healthy, happy and active for 95 years. Pastor Richardson was a retired educator and former principal of Hammond Junior High. He was also a former School Board member of the Tangipahoa Parish school system. Superintendent Samuel Richardson was pastor of Gordon-Richardson Temple of Deliverance, East Side and Gordon/Harrell Church of God in Christ. He served as superintendent of District No. 1 North and as first administrative assistant of Eastern Louisiana Jurisdiction No. 1 Church of God in Christ. He was founder of Gordon-Richardson Christian Academy in Amite. Of all his accomplishments and achievements, none gave him greater satisfaction than seeing lives transformed by the gospel of Jesus Christ. He is survived by two daughters, Sherlene and Clementine Williams, both of Folsom; one stepdaughter, Tonya Brumfield, Benton Harbor, Mich.; two sons, Mark Anthony Brumfield, Benton Harbor, and Sherbert Williams, Folsom; five stepsons, Kendrick andMarlon Brumfield, Benton Harbor, Damon, Will and Nathaniel Williams, all of New Orleans; four sisters, Sandra Hollins, Annie Marie Bell and Patricia Richardson, all of Folsom, and Norma Jean Weary, Covington; three brothers, William Penn, Benton Harbor, Willie Ray Richardson, Folsom, and Kevin Richardson, Naples, Italy; his parents, Willie and Veolia Richardson, Folsom; and three grandchildren. He was preceded in death by one grandchild. Visitation will be Friday from 5 p.m. until the wake at 7:30 at Midway Church of Holiness, USA. Leroy Divinity and John Burris will conduct the funeral Saturday at noon. Burial will be in Hay Hollow Cemetery.
