She was a native of Ruston, but grew up in Quitman. Graduating from Quitman High School in 1926, she went to Louisiana Tech, where she received a two-year teaching certificate. She taught school for a few years, married and settled in Jonesboro, where she lived with her husband, the late Travis B. Pardue, chief deputy sheriff of Jackson Parish at the time of his death on Dec. 11, 1962. She worked in the Registrar of Voters Office and the Jackson Parish Police Jury office with her husband until he moved to the Sheriff's Office. At that time, she assumed the position of secretary/treasurer of the Jackson Parish Police Jury, remaining there until her retirement in January 1973. She received credit for 34 years in state-connected service. She was the longtime pianist for First Baptist Church of Jonesboro before moving to Donaldsonville to reside with her daughter and son-in-law. Mrs. Pardue was a resident of Jonesboro for approximately 60 years, but had made her home with her daughter and son-in-law in Donaldsonville from May 1990 until July 2004, when the family moved to Prairieville. Survivors include a daughter, Myrna P. Robbins of Prairieville; two sons and daughters-in-law, Freddie and Blanche Abbott Pardue of San Augustine, Texas, and Cary and Kathy Blount Pardue of Lake Charles; 12 grandchildren and their spouses, Renee Robbins-Phares and Bobby of Amite, Denise Robbins, G. Milton Robbins Jr. and Lisa Robbins and Claire Robbins Ledet, all of Gonzales, Pamela P. Sharp and Bill of Arlington, Texas, Margarite P. Anderson of Tolar, Texas, Sharon P. Jandrain and Chris of Austin, Texas, Blake and Ben Daugherty, both of Lake Charles, Lee Brady and Andy of Houston, Laura Dear and Tracey of Chicago, and Bill Fowler and Kaye of Dayton, Ohio; 11 great-grandchildren and their spouses, B.J. Phares of Amite, Robin Phares Wilkinson and Duane of Ponchatoula, Blake Ledet and fiancée Rachel Hawkins of Gonzales, Haylie, Alaina and Natalie Robbins, all of Gonzales, John Christopher Sharp of Arlington, Libby and Laura Anderson, both of Tolar, and Luke and Samuel Jandrain, both of Austin; three sisters-in-law, Eleanor P. King, Hot Springs, Ark., Wylma P. Guy, Bastrop, and Libba D. Pardue, Little Rock, Ark.; and several nieces, nephews and cousins. Special thanks go out to her dedicated sitter, Mrs. Donna Gail Howard, and her helper, Beulah Hall. She was preceded in death by her husband, Travis Booth Pardue; parents, Elzie and Iva McMillan McMurry; son-in-law, Gerald Milton Robbins Sr.; daughter-in-law, Darlene Dennis Pardue; father-in-law and mother-in-law, Cleaton Madison Pardue and Olive Rebecca Hays Pardue; brothers-in-law and sisters-in-law, Kenzie Pardue and Willard Pardue, Myra Pardue, Dera P. Davidson Taylor and Ethlyn B. Pardue. Visitation at Ourso Funeral Home, Gonzales, was on Thursday, Sept. 21, from 6 p.m. to 8 p.m. Visitation at Edmonds Funeral Home, Jonesboro, is on Saturday, Sept. 23, from 11 a.m. until religious service at 1 p.m., conducted by the Rev. Keith Crider. Interment in Gardens of Memory Cemetery, Jonesboro. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to Cancer Services or Louisiana Baptist Children's Home, P.O.
