She was 100 and a native of Mount Hermon. Visitation at Harry McKneely & Son Funeral Home chapel, Ponchatoula, from 8:30 a.m. Friday until religious service at 10:30 a.m., conducted by a Dominican priest. Interment in Ponchatoula Cemetery. Survived by two sons, Dr. Horace A. Ory Jr., Poulsbo, Wash., and John Leo Ory, Ponchatoula; a sister, Edna Adams, Kentwood; four grandchildren and a great-grandchild. Preceded in death by her husband, Horace Anthony Ory; a son, Thomas William Ory; a daughter, Leah Ann Ory; four sisters and five brothers. "BUDDY" Stephen L. Ory, affectionately known as Buddy, passed away at 3:42 p.m. Monday, Dec. 22, 2008, at North Oaks Medical Center in Hammond, surrounded by his loving family. He died of complications following a double lung transplant in November of 2007. He was 58, a native of Baton Rouge and a resident of Springfield. He was a retired business owner and served as a Green Beret in the U.S. Army Special Forces out of Fort Bragg, N.C. Visitation at Greenoaks Funeral Home chapel on Friday from 5 p.m. to 8 p.m. Visitation continues at the chapel on Saturday from 10 a.m. until funeral service at noon. Burial in Greenoaks Memorial Park. Buddy is survived by his wife, Treva Arnold Ory, and her son, Lee and wife Amanda Russell; and his faithful pet friend, Charlee. He is also survived by his former wife, Deborah De Laune, who is the mother of his two children, Jason and wife Lori Ory and Jill and husband Dwain Chaney. Surviving also are six grandchildren, Rachael, Tyler, Dillon, Zackary, Karley and Kade; his mother, Norma Ory; sisters, Diane and husband Ralph Martin, Gene and husband Ken Ducote and Beth and husband Clinton Twilley; brothers, Keith Ory and fiancée Stacey Adams and Donald and wife Patti Ory; in-laws, James and Patsy Campbell and Gordon Wayne and Connie Arnold; sisters-in-law, Ronni Arnold Smith and Kendra Arnold; brothers-in-law, Allen and wife Earlene White and Scott and Joey Lenaburg; and numerous aunts, uncles, nieces, nephews and cousins. Preceded in death by his father, Eugene H. Ory; grandparents, Elmer and Olive Daigle Ory, and Horace and Daisy Morrison Theriot; and nephew, Andy Johnson. Buddy loved the water and his "Top Gun" cigarette boat in which he shared in many joyous excursions with family and friends, especially poker runs. He was a very special man, admired and loved by all who knew him and will be sorely missed.
