Beloved husband, father, grandfather and great-grandfather, John was born Dec. 1, 1911, in Hattiesburg, Miss., to Clara Whitcomb Morrison and Calvin E. Morrison Sr. John is survived by his two daughters, Clara Morrison Reimers and husband Don of Houston and Brenda Morrison Arceneaux and husband Will of Watson; grandchildren, Cecilia Maddox, Christie Jarvis, John Robert Beszborn, Shannon Voss, Wade Ford, Emily Bognar and Don J. Arceneaux; 11 great- grandchildren; a brother, Calvin Eugene Morrison Jr.; two sisters, Maria Wilhelm and Catherine Lee; and dear family friend, Helen Rownd. Preceded in death by his wife of 56 years, Thelma Newman Morrison; mother and father, Clara and Calvin Morrison; stepmother, Lety Morrison; three sisters, Daisy Bledsoe, Earlma Decateau and Lety Stratton; and brother, Gus Morrison. John was the founder and owner of Morrison Iron Works in Hammond. He also served as the Mayor of Hammond and was a charter member of Emmanuel Baptist Church. For more than 50 years, John was a master Mason and an active member of the Shriners. All of us were blessed to have shared in the life of this very special man.
