MESSINA, DEACON NICK ANTHONY, SR.
Deacon Nick Anthony Messina, Sr, died at age of 74, at his home in Houma,
LA., Saturday, October 18, 2008 at 9:25 P. M.. He was a native of
Independence, LA. and a resident of Houma, LA.  Visitation will be from
5:00 P. M. till 10:00 P. M. Wednesday, Oct. 22, 2008 at Chauvin Funeral
Home and 8:30 A. M. till funeral Thursday, Oct. 23, 2008 at St. Anthony
Catholic Church.  Mass of Christian Burial will be Thursday, October 23,
2008 at 11:00 A. M. at St. Anthony Catholic Church in Bayou Black, LA.
with burial at St. Francis de Sales #2 Cemetery.  He survived by his wife; 
Barbara Hebert Messina of Houma, two sons; Nick Anthony Messina, Jr of 
Schriever and Michael Messina and wife; Cela of Houma, two daughters; 
Donna Messina of Pensacola, Fl, Gina Lissner and husband; Forest Lissner
of Schriever and Melissa LaCoste and husband; Warren LaCoste of Houma, 
two brothers;Mario Messina of Independence and Frank Messina of Kenner, 
one sister;Laura Johnson of Denham Springs, his mother n law; Lee Ida
Rodriguez of Houma, four grandchildren;Stephen Messina, Melissa Pedigo,
Warren "WJ" LaCoste, Jr and Sean LaCoste, three step grandchildren: Adrian
Garcia, Maria Garcia and Maritza Garcia, two step great grandchildren;
Christian Garcia and Caden Garcia, his special pet; P. D. and also his
special friends:Dr. Lamar Mooneyham, L.J. Champagne, Ernest (Bubba) 
Breaux,Father Gerard Hayes, Sister Miriam Mire and families of the
community of Bayou Black, LA.  He is preceded in death by his parents;
Anthony Messina and Anna Munieve Messina, one brother; Carlo Messina and
three sisters; Annie Albrado, Virginia Rainey and Frances Willingham.
He was a Former owner of the Best Bakery and Deacon of St. Anthony 
Catholic Church of 28 years. Member of the Knights of Columbus - Chaplain,
St. Joseph Italian Society- Past President, Bayou Black Volunteer Fireman,
Southeast LA Regional High School Football Referee- Past, Terrebonne
Parish School Board- Past Board Member, South Louisiana Electric
Cooperative Assoc,- Past Board Member and American Legion - member. He was
also a United States Navy Veteran of Korean War - Chief Petty Officer.
He was a parishioner of St. Anthony Catholic Church.  Chauvin Funeral Home,

MESSINA, SARA CEFALU
A native and resident of Amite, she died at 11:20 p.m. Thursday, Oct. 28,
1999, at Kentwood Manor Nursing Home, Kentwood. She was 89. Visitation at
St. Helena Catholic Church, Amite, from 10 a.m. until religious services at
11 a.m. Saturday, conducted by the Rev. Jack Nutter. Interment in Amite
Cemetery, Amite. Survived by 13 nieces and nephews. Preceded in death by 
her husband, Joseph Messina; parents, Mr. and Mrs. Vincent Cefalu; three
brothers, Nic Cefalu, Tony Cefalu and Dr. Thomas Cefalu; and a sister,
Antoinette C. Carruth. McKneely Funeral Home, Amite, in charge of
arrangements.
