MCDOWELL, AMANDA W.
A resident of Tickfaw, she departed this life Sunday, Feb. 1, 2004, at Hood
Memorial Hospital, Amite. She was 101. Visiting at Greater St. James
Missionary Baptist Church, Tickfaw, from 4 p.m. Wednesday until religious
service at 7 p.m., conducted by the Rev. Dr. Wilbard Jones. Dismissal at 
11 a.m. Thursday. Interment in Holly Gardens Cemetery, Hammond. Survived by
her daughter, Ella Mae Keith, Tickfaw; six grandchildren, 13 great-grand-
children and other relatives and friends. She was the mother of Greater St. 
James Missionary Baptist Church. MJR Friendly Service Funeral Home Inc.,
Denham Springs, in charge of arrangements.

McDOWELL, INEZ FINCH
Inez Finch McDowell, 79, and a resident of Waco, Texas, passed away 
Thursday, May 28, 2009, at her home. She was born on Jan. 29, 1930, in 
Amite, and graduated from Woodland High School, Hillsdale, and 
Southeastern Louisiana University, Hammond. She was a former business 
education teacher in Texas and London. Survived by her daughters, Marsha 
Moffett and Karen Townsend; grandson, Courtland Best; granddaughter, Karla 
Rather; great-granddaughter, Megan Best; sisters, Collean Bickham, Imelda 
Davis and Jeanette Finch; and brothers, Karl Finch and Jerry Finch. 
Preceded in death by her parents, Viola Sharkey Finch and Willie J. Finch; 
son, John F. McDowell; husband, Tyre E. McDowell; and brothers, Glyn T. 
Finch and Willie Z. Finch. Graveside service was held in Killeen, Texas, 
and a memorial service will be held in Baton Rouge at a later date.

MCDOWELL, LOUIS WALTER
Greensburg - Louis Walter McDowell, 59, died Wednesday, Nov. 20, 2002, at
Ochsner Foundation Hospital, Jefferson. He was a native of Port Allen, a
retired U.S. Air Force serviceman, a veteran of Vietnam and chairman of the
deacons at First Baptist Church in Greensburg. He is survived by his wife,
Gilda Hutchinson McDowell of Greensburg; one daughter, Sandra Abbott of
Florida; two sons, Jim and Jody McDowell, both of Florida; four stepsons,
Mike, Steve and Scott Easley, all of Baton Rouge, and Mark Easley of
Greensburg; three brothers, Robert McDowell of Arkansas, Byron McDowell of
Denham Springs and Tim McDowell of California; one sister, Linda Villarubia
of Prairieville; and eight grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his
mother, Rita Adamson; his stepfather, Earl Adamson; and his father, Robert
G. McDowell. Visitation will be Friday at First Baptist Church, Greensburg,
from 10 a.m. until the Rev. Luther Stanford conducts the funeral at 2 p.m.
Burial will be in Greensburg Cemetery, Greensburg. In lieu of flowers,
memorial contributions may be made to First Baptist Church Building Fund, 
P.O. Box 37, Greensburg 70441. McKneely Funeral Home, Amite, is in charge.
