John 3:16. We acknowledge and thank God for His promise. Jean Matt, 77, born Emma Jean Clark on May 19, 1932, in Turkey Creek, passed away Monday, May 17, 2010. Jean was a longtime resident of Baker and beloved wife, mother, sister, grandmother, and great-grandmother. Visiting at Baker Funeral Home, 6401 Groom Road, Baker, Wednesday, May 19, was from 5 p.m. to 9 p.m. Visiting at the funeral home chapel Thursday, May 20, from 9 a.m. until religious service at noon, conducted by the Rev. Jay Avance. Interment in Hillcrest Memorial Gardens. Pallbearers will be her sons, Cleve Matt, Brent Matt, Tim Matt, and Randy Matt, and her grandsons; Chase Matt and Christopher Matt. Honorary pallbearers are Dennis Lilly and Brent Matt Jr. Survived by her sons, Cleve Matt and wife Linda, of Kingwood, Texas, Brent Matt, of Amite, Tim Matt and wife Oleda, of Slaughter, and Randy Matt and wife Heidi, of Amite; grandchildren, Christopher McDaniel, Erica Matt, Paul Matt, Christopher Matt, Brent Matt Jr., Chase Matt, Lauren Matt, and Christian Michael Matt; five great-grandchildren; siblings, Versie Deshotel, Clyde Clark, Carl Clark, Juanita Clark, Dorothy Pugh, Clayton Clark, Teena Satcher, Yvonne Masaki, Charles Clark, and Yona Lilly; and numerous nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her husband, Clevin Joseph Matt; parents, George and Ida Clark; siblings, Wilburn Clark, Clifton Clark and Elaine Clark Johnson; and a grandson, James Paul Shane Davis. She was a member of First Baptist Church of Baker.
