A resident and native of Independence, he died Tuesday, Aug. 9, 2005, at North Oaks Medical Center in Hammond. He was 82. Visitation at Harry McKneely & Son Funeral Home in Hammond on Thursday, Aug. 11, from 6 p.m. to 9 p.m. and on Friday from 8 a.m. to 10 a.m. Religious service at Mater Dolorosa Catholic Church in Independence on Friday at 10:30 a.m. Entombment in Colonial Mausoleum, Independence. He is survived by his wife of 57 years, Inez Page Mandella of Independence; son and daughter-in-law, Vick A. Jr. and Karen Danna Mandella of Independence; two granddaughters, Melissa M. Cavallero of Independence and Krista L. Mandella of Hammond; great- granddaughter, Bailey Claire Cavallero of Independence; and sister, Margaret Mandella of Independence. Preceded in death by his parents, Andrew and Sarah Cassa Mandella; two brothers, Kelly and Frank Mandella; and sister, Jesse Sampere.
