"PAWPAW" A retired construction worker and resident of Hammond, he died at 7:45 a.m. Friday, July 2, 2004, at the home of his daughter, Irma Ewing Collins. He was 79, a native of Gibson and a U.S. Navy veteran. Visiting at Mount Pleasant Baptist Church, Hammond, from 8 a.m. Saturday until religious service at 11 a.m., conducted by the Rev. Samuel Brown. Interment in church cemetery. Survived by his wife, Edna B. Ewing, Hammond; three daughters, Audry S. Simon, Mary L. Ricard and Irma E. and husband Claude Collins, all of Baton Rouge; two sons, James H. Ross Sr., Baton Rouge, and Larry and wife Ellen Ewing, Bossier City; 13 grandchildren; a devoted family friend, Richard Knox; and a host of nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends. James Funeral Home, Hammond, in charge of arrangements. ************************************************************************* Obituary published in The Hammond Vindicator: 5/17/1950 EWING, GLENN Professor Glenn Ewing, 39, accidently drowned at the mouth of North Pass last Thursday near Pass Manchac. Services were conducted Saturday from the Poole Funeral Home and the body was shipped to Columbus, Nebr. Services were held there Monday with interment in Columbus. Mrs. Ewing's father, Harry Williams, of Columbus, accompanied Mrs. Ewing to Columbus. The couple had been married 8 years. He was an assistant music professor at Southeastern College for the past four years. The Ewings had no children and Mr. Ewing was the last of his immediate family. He was born in Lincoln, Nebr. and served as a Warrant Officer in World War 2. *************************************************************************
