He was a native of McComb, Miss., and a resident of Kentwood. He was a member of Lewiston Baptist Church and a student at Jewel M. Sumner High School. He is survived by his father and stepmother, Michael and Melanie Eldridge, Kentwood; mother and stepfather, Beverly and Wes Vidaure, Independence; four brothers, Dwayne Eldridge, Kentwood, Orry and Allen Eldridge, both of Springfield, and Troy Vidaure, Independence; sister, Kelsey Vidaure, Independence; grandparents, Mildred Eldridge, Kentwood, Elaine and "Paw" Fred Johnson, Amite, and Herbert Woodard, Clinton; a special aunt and uncle, Betty and Huey Woodard, Kentwood, as well as numerous other aunts, uncles and cousins. He was preceded in death by his grandfather, Allen Eldridge; and two aunts, Tina Eldridge and Donna Slaven. A Walthall County and Enon Community native, she was a homemaker and a member of the Catholic faith. Survivors include two sons, Charles Thomas Palumbo of Hammond and Lewis Anthony Palumbo of Virginia; five grandchildren, four great-grandchildren and one great-great-grandchild. Her parents, Parham Albert Dunaway and Annis Ola Burnett Dunaway; her first husband, Charles L. Palumbo; her second husband, Frank Eldridge Sr.; two sisters, Ouida Dunaway Brister and Toye Lee Dunaway Beard; and one brother, Wilburn Dunaway, preceded her in death. Burial was Tuesday at Hollywood Cemetery, Miss. Catchings Funeral Home, McComb, was in charge. ******************************************************************************** Obituary published in The Hammond Daily Star: 3/11/2010 ELDRIDGE, ROY ALBERT (U.S. Navy Retired) A native of Natchitoches Parish and resident of Hammond, Roy passed away on Wednesday, March 10, 2010 at his home in Hammond at the age of 80. He retired with the U.S. Navy as a Chief Petty Officer after 30 years of dedicated service and was subsequently employed at the U.S. Public Health Service Hospital in Carville as an operating engineer for 18 years. Roy was a member of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints, Fairfield Masonic Lodge No. 425 F.&A.M. in Baton Rouge, 32¡ Mason of Baton Rouge Scottish Right, Damato American Legion No. 0792 Shenandoah PA, V.F.W. Post 1962 and National Rife Association. Roy leaves behind his loving and devoted wife of 46 years, Grace Methvien Eldridge; one aunt, Audrey Beason Robinette of Alexandria VA; three nieces, Cindy Eldridge, Terri Eldridge and Kathy Gibson; one nephew, David Eldridge, along with two special cousins, Lee Faour and Novis Wiley. Preceding Roy in death were his parents, Felix and Bertie Beason Eldridge; brothers, Edgar Loy Eldridge and Carson Ried Eldridge; one sister, Dorothy Eldridge Kephart.
