Age 86 and a longtime resident of Hammond, Joe passed away Wednesday, July 13, 2011. He served our country proudly in the U.S. Army during World War 2 and was an active member of Hammond VFW Post 3652. Mr. Joe was a parishioner of Holy Ghost Catholic Church in Hammond, where he served as Eucharistic minister and was an active member of the Knights of Columbus Hammond Council 2952, where he was a bingo worker, pro-life chairman, co-chairman for the membership committee, as well as chairman of the annual Santa Claus parade, which is held at the Hammond State School. Mr. Joe also volunteered his time at St. Albert's, providing meals to Southeastern Louisiana University students and was well-known for his lasagna dinners, which helped raise money for TARC. He also enjoyed volunteering for Special Olympics and Red Cross. Mr. Joe leaves behind his loving and devoted wife, Nancy Demarco; children, Pam Demarco Connelley and husband Mike, Joey Demarco, Marcie Neumann and husband Gerry, Christopher Jette, Mark Jette and wife Lisa, Holly Pinkard and husband David, Joseph Jette and wife Susy; grandchildren, Amy Ricks and husband John, Jeffrey Stevens and partner Ryan Caro, Travis and Justin Connelley, Lindsey, Jacob and Seth Neumann, Misty and Casey Jette, Tristan, Zachary and Ryan Jette, Christian and Gene Jette, Naia and Bria Jette; and great-grandchildren, Hunter, Logan, Laken, Destiny, Sophia, Holden and Joseph. He is also survived by his sisters, Vita Demarco, Mrs. Cecilia Demarco Giannobile, Mary Ann Huebinger and husband Jerome, Frank Demarco, along with numerous nieces and nephews. Preceding Mr. Joe in death were his first wife, Vernice Fabre Demarco; siblings, Johnny, Vincent and Sam Demarco; parents, Joseph Sr. and Anna Deliberto Demarco. Relatives and friends of the family are invited to attend the visitation from the chapel of Brandon G. Thompson Funeral Home of Hammond on Thursday, July 14, from 6 p.m. to 9 p.m., with a prayer vigil and recitation of the rosary at 7 p.m. Visitation continues at Holy Ghost Catholic Church on Friday, July 15, from 9 a.m. until Mass of Christian Burial at 10 a.m., with the Rev.
