Chustz, 77, who died last Friday at her home in Independence, were held Sunday from the home of her daughter in Natalbany. Interment was in Greenlawn Cemtery with the Thomas Funeral Home in charge. She was the former Miss Elisa Loustalot Seguley. She spent her early childhood on Union Plantation on the Mississippi River. About 25 years ago she, her husband and their children, all of whom were born in West Baton Rouge parish, moved to Independence. Mr. Chustz preceded his wife in death this past January. She is survived by two sons, Dr. Jos. Chustz of Jackson, Miss. and Frank Chustz of Independence; three daughters, Miss Mary Jane Chustz of New Orleans, Mrs. Gertrude C. Martin of Natalbany, and Mrs. Joe T. Gill of Hammond. One daughter, Mrs. Neville Watts Maddux of Creedmore Plantation, preceded her in death. ************************************************************************* Obituary published in The Hammond Vindicator: 1/26/1951 CHUSTZ, MORILE J. Last rites for Morile J. Chustz, of Independence, who died Wednesday, January 17, at Foundation Hospital in New Orleans, were held Friday from the home of his daughter, Mrs. Gertrude C. Martin, in Natalbany. Religious services followed from Mater Dolorosa Catholic Church in Independence. Interment was in Greenlawn Cemetery (Hammond) with the Thomas Funeral Home in charge. He was born in Rougan in 1878. At the age of 21 he married Miss Eliza Loustalot Seguley of Union Plantation on the Mississippi River at Union. After his marriage, he settled in West Baton Rouge Parish where he was engaged in the mercantile, farming and cattle business. In 1921 he moved his family to Independence where he lived until his death. He is survived by his widow; two sons, Frank J. Chustz of Independence and Dr. James A. Chustz of Jackson, Miss.; three daughters, Miss Mary Jane Chustz of New Orleans, Mrs. Gertrude Chustz Martin of Natalbany and Mrs. Joe Gill of Hammond. He was preceded in death by one daughter, Mrs. Neville Watts Maddux of Creedmore Plantation in St. Bernard Parish. ************************************************************************* Obituary published in the Hammond Daily Star on: 8/30/2011 CHUSTZ, NORMA Age 88, a native of England and resident of Hammond, Norma passed away on Saturday, August 27, 2011 at North Oaks Medical Center. She leaves behind her son, Martin Chustz and wife Eleni; daughter, Jane Chustz; grandson, Damien M. Chustz and wife Kimberly, along with a great-granddaughter, Emma Grace Chustz.
