Charles E. Burch, well known resident of Amite, succumbed Tuesday at Wiginton Infirmary. Funeral arrangements are pending. A daughter, Mrs. J. L. Cox, is on a motor trip to the Pacific Northwest. The body is at the Thomas Funeral Home. He was born November 15, 1873 in Stewartsville, Mo. He was an ordained Methodist minister and had organized many Sunday Schools and churches in Nebraska prior to coming to Louisiana. He served as Pastor at the Methodist church in Jennings and Congregational church in Roseland. He also served as the postmaster in Roseland. He is survived by his wife of two months, the former Miss Lena Alford; three daughters by a former marriage, Mrs. Monroe Finch and Miss Fannie Burch, both of Amite, and Mrs. J. L. Cox of Bogalusa; one brother, H. B. A retired lawyer and resident of Amite, she died at 10:25 a.m. Thursday, Aug. 14, 1997, at her residence. She was 96. During her adult life, she served in many capacities in church work and was an outstanding member and influence in her church, town, parish and state. "BILL" William T.
